The first Castaner workshop was founded in1927. They later made fashion history when in the 70's they met with Yves Saint Laurent and developed and created the style we still know today; the espadrille with wedge.
The manufacturing of the espadrille has hardly changed over the last 90 years. They travel to India and Bangladesh for the finest Jute skein to braid the sole. For the heel counter, they use linen and cotton yarns of the highest quality and even today, many of the styles are sewn by hand.
Castaner's essence remains as authentic as it was in 1927; tradition, craftmanship and natural materials. All to produce timeless classics that never go out of fashion.
